Choose The Best Lenses with Your Kennesaw Optometrist
If you're due for a new pair of glasses, our Kennesaw eye care team is here to help! At Hobson Eye Associates, we offer not only a wide selection of eyeglass frames to suit your style, but a number of lens choices and lens coating options to suit your needs. Choosing the right lenses for your next pair of eyeglasses is so important, so it can be helpful to do a little research on your options before you make a decision!
Exploring Your Lens Material Options
When it comes to lens materials, you'll have no shortage of options from which to choose. These days, plastic and polycarbonate are two of the most common materials used for lenses, and for good reason. Plastic is not only lightweight, but very durable and inexpensive as well. Polycarbonate is also lightweight and known to be even more durable than plastic, though this material does tend to cost a bit more.
High-index plastic is another popular option to consider, especially if you have a more complex prescription that would otherwise result in a very thick plastic or poly lens. This lens material is known for its ability to be made very thin but still extremely durable.
Additional Treatments to Consider
In addition to choosing your lens material, there are some lens treatments you may also want to consider before ordering your next pair of glasses. Consider, for example, adding an anti-scratch coating to your lenses to reduce the chances of your lenses being damaged. Anti-reflective coatings are also recommended for improving clarity and contrast, especially when wearing your glasses at night.
To protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays, you may also want to consider a UV-blocking treatment that offers up to 100% protection against UVA and UVB rays.
