The Kennesaw optometry staff at Hobson Eye Associates is dedicated to helping every person who walks through our door find an effective and affordable vision correction solution to meet their needs.

For many people, contact lenses are the preferred means of vision correction. Contacts are subtle, simple, and safe. But no two pairs of eyes are the exact same. In fact, the two eyes within the same person may not always be the same, either! This is why our staff offer contact lens evaluations to help you determine the right pair of lenses that will meet your budget, style, and vision needs.

What is a Contact Lens Evaluation?

Everyone should have their eyes examined at least once a year by an optometrist. It's a small yet mighty investment in your long-term vision and eye health since an eye doctor can help detect early warning signs of eye diseases and offer preventive and therapeutic approaches to maximize your eyesight.

If you've been diagnosed with an eye problem that would benefit from prescription eyewear, then our Kennesaw optometry team will help you determine the best vision-correcting solution for you. In addition to testing your visual acuity, inner eye pressure, and pupil response, we'll also assess the outer surface of your eye and screen for any other underlying health problems to help us prescribe you with the right kind of lens.

Types of Speciality Contact Lenses Offered

Among our various specialty contact lenses options, our clinic provides rigid gas-permeable lenses that provide excellent clear vision and are easy to wear and clean. We also offer daily disposable lenses for people who are looking for a more convenient solution that suit an active lifestyle.

For people with unique eye shapes, specific vision problems, or other unique factors, we also offer hard-to-fit contacts. Specific hard-to-fit contact lenses we offer include:

Contacts for astigmatism: Astigmatism is a vision problem caused by an irregularly shaped cornea (the clear dome shape in front of your colored iris). Toric contact lenses are breathable and movable lenses that accommodate your unique eye shape and improve your vision while also giving you plenty of eye comfort.

Contacts for keratoconus: Keratoconus is a progressive thinning of the cornea. In addition to impacting your ability to see things clearly, you may also have increased sensitivity to light and glare. As the cornea thins over time, you may find that your prescription will need to be adjusted more frequently compared to other people with more standard refractive errors (such as nearsightedness or farsightedness). Contact lenses for keratoconus are specially designed to accommodate thinner-than-normal corneas, and come in a variety of styles including rigid gas-permeable, soft toric, extra large sclera lenses (which reduce pressure on the corneas), as well as hybrid lenses that combine the fine vision correction of a rigid lens with the comfort of a soft lens.
